K2 Systems has created a solution to a chronic issue for installers working on tile roofs: tile roofs have a gap between the tile and decking surface, which complicates handling requirements re flashing/underlayment during an install. K2 recently incorporated EverSeal into their hook offerings, EverSeal being the same butyl used in their Splice Foot products. EverSeal is better than metal flashings on asphalt shingle roofs as no sealant is needed and removes the need to pry up nails or shingles. It is also much faster for installs on tile roofs.

Unsurprisingly, Biden has vetoed the legislation passed by Congress to repeal the 2-year moratorium on solar tariffs. He stated that it would undermine efforts to ramp up domestic manufacturing and foment uncertainty for industry businesses and workers. He does not plan to extend the moratorium either – it will end in June 2024.

In an effort to accelerate PV tech, including high-tandem devices, First Solar Inc. has acquired Evolar AB, a Swedish PV tech company, for about $70 total. They intend to enhance their thin-film PV by joining Evolar’s know-how with their existing R&D and properties.

Treasury has unleashed guidelines about the IRA’s 10% bonus for solar power projects that use made-in-USA content. It makes it clearer to developers how to take advantage of the domestic content bonus credit for projects that begin construction this year. They also clarify the treatment of labor costs so as to ensure the focus of the incentive remains on domestic manufacturing. These proposed regulations will apply to taxable years ending after May 12, 2023.
