SolarAcademy Journal: Power of Teaching

Week 30.

Lots of great things happened last week:

  • We closed our first large revenue (a micro-grid project worth ~$700k)  and received our first milestone payment.
  • We launched our first solar education class with HeatSpring.
  • Continued investment discussions with a number of solar companies and investors focused on the long-tail of industry.
  • Had a good family vacation skiing with my son and childhood friend.

To-do this week:

  • SolarAcademy content planning
  • Develop more solar classes (for resi & comm prop owners)
  • Develop solar learning paths
  • Develop open-source methods for sharing the ins and outs of our ongoing solar projects.
  • Work on re-design of SolarAcademy home page

Thoughts:

This week my thoughts are on the topic and power of teaching.

I am just really excited this week because my calendar is filled with teaching activities. Teaching makes me feel really good. Real good. I mean, really really good.

And, I know why. It is because I am sharing my knowledge and my power with those who are seeking it. And that simply makes me happy.

Reminds me of this quote by Ataturk, founder of the modern Republic of Turkey.

“A good teacher is like a candle—it consumes itself to light the way for others.”
