Key senator wants more time in infrastructure deliberations

Joe Manchin, the WV Democrat who is the key 50th vote in the Senate, is not in any rush to end bipartisan negotiations around Biden’s infrastructure agenda. Progressive senators want to speed things up and end the filibuster. However, Manchin has made it clear that he’s not up for lowering the 60-vote threshold, even if Republicans block an upcoming independent commission on Jan 6. He says: “This is the long game, it’s not a short game…the Senate is very deliberate.”
