Senator Joe Manchin, a Democrat from WV and Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources chair, recently turned the heat up under Biden’s climate change goals. In an interview the senator defended US coal-fired power plants, saying they’ve been unfairly targeted by environmentalists. He also pointed to nuclear power plants as an important player in the fight against climate change. Manchin questioned the feasibility of Biden’s ambitious goal to reach 100% carbon-free electricity by 2035.
