Illinois sets new precedents on clean energy

The Illinois Senate approved a bill, which was signed into law by Governor Pritzker on Sept 15, that overhauls the energy industry in the state and sets important precedents in the region. The law is one of the most ambitious pieces of legislation in the midwest: it creates tens of thousands of renewables related jobs, puts the state on a path to 100% electricity by 2050, provide 4,000 MW of new utility-scale solar and 5,800 MW of new rooftop and community solar, phases out coal burning plants, and includes requirements for diversity, equity and inclusion in the new renewables market.
