Rep. Sean Casten is shining a light on the vital role of FERC in decarbonizing America. In an interview he points to the fact that neither the DOE nor the EPA have substantive jurisdiction over generator siting, install, permitting and transmission siting. The job actually falls to FERC given that they have the capability. He also points out that Biden should move on appointing Chatterjee’s replacement and that FERC is not the one able to fix the glacial transmission project permitting problem and regulatory capture issues.
