New campaign seeks more visibility for FERC for new bills

The “Hot FERC Summer” campaign from House Democrats is a move to raise FERC’s visibility to support new legislation in the works. Three bills have been introduced: the Energy PRICE Act, that would clarify their authority to consider greenhouse gas emissions in ratemaking and result in a carbon price in wholesale power markets, the Right to Timely Rehearings at FERC Act to expedite the rehearing process, and a bill directing FERC to improve regional transmission planning. FERC also awaits a nominee from the White House to fill Commissioner Neil Chatterjee’s seat.
