Biden on China’s import tariff and Phase 1 agreement

Biden announced he’d wait on any immediate action regarding two actions the Trump administration took regarding China in the past two years. One is the 25% tariff placed on around half of China’s exports to the US in 2018 that impacted over $50 billion worth of products, including solar cells and modules. The other is the 2020 Phase 1 agreement Trump set up that had Beijing  purchasing about $200 billion additional U.S. goods and services in 2020 and 2021 (something China has not been complying with). Biden stated he wants to first review his options and consult with Asian and European allies to “develop a coherent strategy.”
