Battle batteries

Battle of Batteries

We talked about how the last frontier in enabling a truly healthy power infrastructure lies in storage and batteries.

Based on this California SGIP report, the battle field of batteries have been dominated mostly by 2 major brands in the past couple of years: LG Chem and Tesla.

Yet there have been a number of other players in the market, making moves with less brand recognition and less capital behind them, yet with great technology.

Enter the field Generac, with their acquisition of Pika Energy. Generac is a multi billion dollar public company.

Founded in 1959, Generac is a leading designer and manufacturer of a wide range of power generation equipment and other power products. As a leader in power equipment serving residential, light commercial and industrial markets, Generac’s power products are available globally through a broad network of independent dealers, distributors, retailers, wholesalers and equipment rental companies, as well as sold direct to certain end user customers.

With their extensive dealer network and Pika’s leading edge solutions Generac will likely make major waves in US storage market.

So, Pika is taken. But there are still quite a few more amazing battery companies out there (SimpliPhi, Deka, Outback,…).

Some of them can be seen in this Battery products page on CivicSolar.com.
