7 Things Worth Reading This Week (6/10/22)

Greenbacker Development Opportunities Fund, provider of flexible capital and technical guidance for growth-stage clean energy companies, has invested in Sunrock Distributed Generation, a national C&I solar and storage financing and asset aggregation platform. The partnership is projected to raise Sunrock’s capacity to provide financing for small and medium businesses looking to transition to solar.

Thousands met in front of the CPUC building in San Francisco to protest and publicly respond to the commission’s decision to go forward with NEM 3.0 – which keeps in place the changes that would largely make CA rooftop solar financially non-viable for people. It was organized by CALSSA, which sued the govt and helped precipitate the hold on 3.0 in past months.

The big news of the week is that Biden has granted a 2 year reprieve for any new solar tariffs. He has also invoked the Defense Production Act to boost domestic manufacturing of solar panels through loans and grants. Across the industry stakeholders are reporting their desire to get back to work ASAP.
