SolarAcademy Journal: Power of Stories

Week 19 at SolarAcademy.

Lots are still happening on all fronts. Many education opportunities are presenting themselves. Various solar projects are requiring my attention. And various investment opportunities and solar start-ups are also coming up on my radar and periphery.

The one big accomplishment last week was the recording and publishing of our interview with two leading companies in the residential solar industry, Go Green Solar and Planet Plan Sets. The almost hour-long interview covers the story of how they came to existence as well as the details of what they do for their customers. We hope to record and publish many similar education stories with Go Green Solar and Planet Plan Sets as well as other regional leaders in the solar industry.

One cool thing about the story we published last week is the piece that Deep Patel shared about the history of the solar industry. Coincidentally, fellow angel investor Fabrice Grinda who invited me to his show Playing with Unicorns wanted to talk exactly about that – the history of the solar industry as well as the trends and opportunities around solar.

I called this week’s theme – Power of Stories. Because as Yuval Harari shares in his best-seller book Sapiens, stories are what keeps humanity intact. Stories are really really powerful. Stories wire us in ways to operate in the human culture we are born into. They define our fears. And they no doubt define our hopes and dreams. Knowing one’s own authentic story helps them be aware of why they are doing what they are doing. And when a person shares their stories authentically that helps attracts others to their cause.

I hope to help the players in the solar industry share their stories with SolarAcademy and its audience.
