Week 21 at Solar Academy. Projects moving along. Content creation is coming together but slower than I had hoped. Some solar advising activities are continuing and some seem to be hold. Some new investment opportunities are coming my way. I feel like there will definitely be an opportunity to create a “long tail of solar” focused investment opportunities.

One exciting development. I will be on my friend Fabrice Grinda’s “Playing with Unicorns” YouTube Series this Thursday, February 4th at 12 noon ET.

One thing to note. I have been really good at recording a number of really useful semi-private conversations on Zoom. And then I check with the people who were on the call and I ask them if it would be cool if I made the content of our conversations public on Youtube or similar… and the answer is generally a “yes”.

I just have to get better at editing and publishing at a faster rate because the conversations are happening at a much faster rate than the creation of content. And since “content is king”, it needs to be done right.

And that brings me to the theme of this week. Power of Timing.

Timing is everything in entrepreneurship. Things change and each change creates a wave of opportunity that we can catch and ride as entrepreneurs. And I feel like a tsunami of changes is coming our way with the new administration in the renewable energy space. There will be plenty of opportunities to invest in and/or build companies around the new green infrastructure that will be built all over the world in the coming decades.

My goal with SolarAcademy is to play on the education and knowledge sharing side of this tsunami.

Today I noticed Chamath Palihapitiya’s Jan 31st tweet where he shared “There are only two priorities: Inequality + Climate Change”.

I agree. And the root cause of both (Inequality and Climate Change) is the same. Unconscious power, aka not knowing the purpose of our power.

And, my answer to that is “Share your power”.

Information is power. So… you want a more equal world? Share your power (and your information).

So if we want a more equal world, then let’s start by sharing more of our “insider” information with the not-so-fortunate ones. I hope to start that movement in the “solar energy” space.

And who knows?… Perhaps it will catch on and go beyond just solar… I believe the timing is right to jump on that wave.
