The growing backlog of projects awaiting grid interconnection – up 30% last year – has become a major bottleneck for project development, a Berkeley Labs study said. Past experience demonstrates that most interconnection requests are ultimately canceled and withdrawn while projects that are built are taking longer on average to reach commercial operation.
