The Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act has been introduced into the Senate by Senator Jon Ossoff (D-Georgia) to bolster energy independence and the US solar supply chain and allow the US to better compete with Chinese manufacturers. It would set up a tax credit for domestic solar manufacturers. Key stats: Modules get a credit of 11 cents x module capacity, cells get 4 cents x cell capacity, wafers get $12 per square meter, and solar-grade polysilicon gets $3 per kilogram. The incentives would be around through 2028 followed by a two year phase-down period.
