A new DOE endeavor has been unveiled: reduce the cost of utility-scale, long-duration energy storage by 90% in ten years. The program is called Long Duration Storage Shot and is bolstering development of systems with a minimum of 10 hours duration to mitigate daily and seasonal variability of RE’s impact on the grid.
