Zinc hybrid cathode battery and storage system company Eos Energy received a $22.7 million DOE loan, its second loan. Last year, they received a loan with the LPO for $303.5 million to support about 80% of the project American Made Zinc Energy – their plan to create 8GWh of annual production capacity from automated lines by 2027.
NJ passed smart solar permitting legislation to expedite the approval process for resi solar and storage systems. The law requires the commissioner to provide depts, enforcing agencies and contractors with the State Smart Solar Permitting Platform. Local enforcing agencies would then be required to allow applicants to submit permits for systems through either the State Smart Solar Permitting Platform or an alternative platform.
FERC and other federal agencies revoked regulations governing their handling of environmental reviews of proposed projects under NEPA. The regulations significantly weaken the implementation of the statute by cutting the public out of NEPA reviews and eliminating all references to consider things like climate change and environmental justice.
The House of Rep passed the final version of a budget reconciliation bill on July 3, and Pres Trump is expected to sign it. This version ends the resi ITC at the end of this year and adds new component restrictions to large-scale projects that begin construction after 2025. New data is out about how to mitigate the impact of hail on large-scale systems. Strict overgrown vegetation management and module selection are key. Modules with thicker, tempered glass are less likely to have hail damage plus verifying module dimensions helps detect misalignment issues. Keeping vegetation down helps prevent fire/smoke risks and damage. The video on the findings is below.
