SolarAcademy Journal: Sharing Power

It is Week 12 at SolarAcademy.

Last week was Thanksgiving week, so not much got done, especially since I was also on a no-electronics fast for 4 days. It is a great feeling not to look at a bright screen for 4 days in a row. Highly recommend it.

I have one important goal this week. And that is to make significant progress in finalizing the content for the “Become a Solar Entrepreneur” course.

Today, I would like to briefly write about “Sharing our Power”. I was talking to another fellow Turkish-American solar energy entrepreneur friend of mine. And we were talking about education. Specifically the education of our children. And we were comparing the current times to the old times when we were little, back in the old country, amongst “our village” of extended family, cousins, and grandparents.

We talked about how the childhoods that our kids are experiencing today in small nuclear families, with little to no extended family around and on their screens all day, is so vastly different than the old days. We talked about how in the old days we used to hear stories from older relatives and that used to be a big part of our education. And then we talked about creating similar useful online content for our kids to consume, but not only for our kids but also the kids of our friends so we could re-create that village sense online.

So the question in my mind is: “We naturally want to share our knowledge and power with our kids and our friends’ kids. Why not the whole world?”

This too will happen one way or another. Curious to see how that will come about.
