REC assesses large panels for C&I and residential sectors

Panel manufacturer REC gave us the skinny on large-format PV panels for C&I and residential projects, something that would push related vendors, like racking and design, to adjust. They’ve been seeing larger wafers and modules on rooftops, though they’re definitely favored in the C&I segment more. Larger modules mean less labor and fewer BOS components, driving down the LCOE. The biggest concerns for homeowners are their weight on a rooftop and their inability to fit in tight spaces. But REC feels that, given that customers are drawn to higher nameplate power modules, larger module size is on the horizon for the residential market.
