House budget votes moves forward billions in potential efficiency investments

On Tuesday House Democrats OK’d a $3.5 trillion budget framework which includes the much anticipated greenhouse gas emissions national standard. A “Clean Electricity Payment Program” is also part of the budget agreement, something that would push utilities to supply at least 80% renewable energy by 2030. However, it’s unclear at the moment if the budget framework will include an efficiency standard, something that is concerning clean energy advocates. The House also set up a Sept vote for the bipartisan $1 trillion infrastructure bill.
