Two studies have found that significant cost and time savings are possible with flexible “connect and manage” interconnection of large-scale solar and solar-plus-storage projects. This approach is known as an energy resource interconnection service (ERIS). With this approach, projects would be required to occasionally limit output so as not to thermally overload transmission lines.
