The first meeting of FERC had newly appointed Regulatory Commissioner Allison Clements putting it right out there that climate change will feature prominently in her decisions. She pointed to the complexity of the legal issues behind safeguarding just and reasonable rates and sniffing out unfair discrimination, stating that “these factors also include the grave threat of climate change.” Another Dem appointee Commissioner Richard Glick has always pushed for this approach to regulation and Rep Commissioner Neil Chatterjee showed some willingness to look at carbon regulation.
