This SPW article details contractor-created apprenticeship programs to help meet IRA requirements (and qualify for the credits) and fill labor gaps. It discusses best practices, challenges for the industry, and solutions for other barriers faced by companies looking to tap IRA benefits.

LONGi released a new solar panel designed for durability and reliability against hail and wind. The Hi-MO 5 Ice-Shield module is a dual-glass bifacial panel using thicker top-glass (3.2-mm integrated top layer of tempered glass) than traditional modules (2-mm of heat-strengthened front and rear glass). The modules showed no visual defects and almost no power degradation after impact from a 55-mm hailstone.

The International Energy Agency dropped a report on renewables stating that manufacturing investment rose over 70% to roughly $200 billion in 2023 with 40% of this spending on plants meant to come online in 2024. China, however, remains the preeminent manufacturing force, accounting for three-fourths of 2023’s investment, down from 85% in 2022.

This article digs into the role of anti-dust tech for modules. It walks through dust accumulation and its impact on PV performance. It also looks at a few key dust accumulation scenarios and details how LONGi’s design combats them. Apparently, LONGi’s long-term outdoor testing showed a max power generation gain of 6.08% in a single month and a monthly average of 2.4% with their Hi-Mo 5 Anti-Dust design.
