U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio from FL introduced the Protecting Advanced American Manufacturing Act which is meant to prohibit companies with ties to “foreign adversary” countries like China from receiving American tax credits via the loophole left in the IRA.

As part of a new preliminary design solution they’re calling PrelimScanifly, Scanifly has integrated its software platform with varied remote data sources. The software allows contractors to design remotely with features that include those of Scanifly3D plus internal proposal and financing tools as well as consolidation design solutions. The company also added Nearmap data coverage, satellite imagery and the US Geological Survey’s publicly available LiDAR data.

Wood Mackenzie reports that the resi market grew 24% through Q3. They also warn that the market should temper its expectations for next year as high interest rates persist that lower resi demand. The CA market will tank after the rush through the NEM 2.0 backlog ends – there has been an 80% drop off in install orders following the NEM 3.0 transition.

Solar Builder has rolled out their Project of the Year Awards. Categories include Resi, Community, Ulity-Scale, C&I Ground-Mount/Carports, C&I Rooftop, Microgrid and Editors’ Choice projects. Winners include the Port Newark Container Terminal project, an airforce station project, and one for the Seneca Nation.

Bifacial modules, even on flush-mounted roof systems, are on the rise. This is partially due to the lower costs, given that they have been exempt from tariffs. A recent report states that bifacial cells held 70% of the market in 2023 and will increase further to 90% by 2030. Some manufacturers are exclusively switching to glass-glass.
