Soltec, a global solar tracking solution provider, unleashed a new hail defense algorithm for mitigating damage to solar systems. Dubbed Hail Algorithm, it combines prediction and detection to direct the panels to angle at a stowed position for greater protection against direct and perpendicular strikes.

Apparently, dozens of companies are counteracting their big climate promises. The environmental group InfluenceMap found that they are lobbying against efforts to hold themselves company accountable to their commitments. Companies include automaker Stellantis (Chrysler, Jeep), Delta Air Lines, ExxonMobil and several utilities and manufacturers.

US cumulative battery storage installs reached almost 15GW at the end of Q3 2023, with the largest growth being in TX. 1.909GW was added during the three-month-long quarter, a 16% increase from Q2, while year-on-year there was a 53.3% increase in the installed base.

California and Germany, two markets actively pursuing agrivoltaics, are working together to further adoption in CA. A conference earlier this month had insiders discussing project dev, research, tech, and govt initiatives. While the model is still relatively new in the US, mostly involving pilot or test installs, Germany is further ahead and brought much to the conversation.

The Treasury has released guidance on how to access the ITC in the IRA provisions: the 30% on installs, the additional 10% tax credit adder for energy communities, the other 10% adder for domestic content, direct pay and transferability, and more.
