6 Things Worth Reading This Week (2/17/23)

This SPW article lists 10 key design considerations for creating code-compliant, reliable and economically buildable BESS designs. The list includes discussion about high energy density and conductors, max battery-string voltage and central inverters, auxiliary loads and applicable codes, cut sheets, design guides and installation manuals, and gray NEC code areas.

A new report from WoodMack and the Coalition for Community Solar Access says that community solar is due to double in size over the next 4 years. However, community solar’s numbers did drop by 16% last year due to supply chain contracts and interconnection delays in key markets like MA, MD and ME.

This may also mean opportunity for non-lithium batteries, given that homeowners and businesses hesitate to embrace energy storage due to the high cost of lithium batteries and their fire risks.

In this session, we had the pleasure to host Adam Gerza of Energy Toolbase to talk about California’s upcoming Net Energy Metering 3.0 policy and what it means for the commercial and industrial solar markets. Adam Gerza, who is also a member of the CalSSA, shared with us the in depth analysis of his company, Energy Toolbase, on the upcoming changes with NEM-3.
