Solar Builder has unleashed its annual BOS Buyers Guide. They give the lowdown on three categories of products: largely resi providers with some C&I structural and electrical BOS products, eBOS – which means companies focused on wire management clips, clamps and junction boxes for any rooftop, and companies that specialize in the needs of the C&I market. Despite IRA incentives, inverter manufacturing in the US is still slow with companies hesitant to manufacture here. Some hesitate because they don’t fit into the narrow definitions in the IRA (and many parts are sourced overseas). IRA definitions of different inverter types also raise barriers – for example, microinverters can receive the largest incentive per-watt in the inverter category, but they must be both less than 650 WAC and connect with just one solar module (this then only applies to Enphase).

WoodMack has some new estimates out for growth in the microgrid market. At 10 GW last year they state that the sector has seen a 47% increase in solar and storage capacity, as compared to 2017 numbers. They attribute the growth to rising demand for uninterrupted services, corporate ESG goals, and military resilience plans.
